HOW TO WRAP PRESENTS

AND ADD A DIAMOND TO MAKE THEM PERFECT

HOW TO WRAP PRESENTS

Whether it’s an unusually shaped chocolate gift or ribbon-tying, our expert guide has you covered. To start, you will need:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Tissue paper (optional)
  • Decoration: think ribbons, name tags and bows
  • Don't forget to add a diamond!

WRAPPING PRESENTS NEED SPACE

To wrap with ease, choose a hard, flat surface. This makes measuring, cutting and sticking things down much smoother. Unroll your wrapping paper to at least twice the length of your present.

Place your present in the middle, and check there’s enough paper to cover all sides before cutting. Remember to leave a few centimetres for the top edge to overlap with the bottom.

TAPE THINGS DOWN

Top tip: prep several pieces of cut tape and line them up before you start.

Then, tape one edge of the paper to the middle of your present. Pull the other side tautly up, and fold over the taped bottom layer. This top edge will be visible — if it’s not straight, fold the paper once underneath for a good straight line.

If you’re wrapping a huge present, like our whopping 4.5kg Giant Toblerone bar, you’ll need to use several pieces of tape to make sure everything stays in place.

FOLD THE EDGES

You’ll now have two ends exposed with unfolded paper sticking out at either side. Start on one side by pushing both ends of the paper towards each other. You’ll end up with four triangle-shaped (of course) folds at each corner.

Crease these folds with your finger and thumb to keep them secure. This’ll give you two trapezoid-shaped flaps.

Push one flap down and crease, then fold the other flap over the top and crease. Secure with tape and repeat again on the other side.

HOW TO WRAP AWKWARD PRESENTS

Wondering how to wrap presents with a shape that’s never square? I mean, how do you even wrap a handbag or a BBQ?

Top tip: place them into a box beforehand!

HOW TO WRAP CIRCULAR PRESENTS

These can be particularly tricky, but tissue paper is the secret. Here’s how:

  1. Measure the circumference of your gift.
  2. Roll your tissue paper to this length (with a few centimetres to spare).
  3. Place your present in the centre and wrap the paper around the curved side.
  4. Twist both ends to close the cylinder and fasten with ribbon.

FOR THE PERFECT BOW

  1. Lay your (ideally Toblerone chocolate) present face down on a ribbon five times the length of your present.
  2. Bring both ends up and place one over the other, pulling width-wise so they cross.
  3. Turn over your gift, and thread each end under the ribbon already in place.
  4. Tie ends in a bow, shape the loops, and trim tidily.

REMEMBER TO ADD A DIAMOND

Anything goes when it comes to gift wrap and ribbon! Try themed embellishments like a sprig of holly, Christmassy ribbon, or better still, add a diamond.

  1. Take one of our individually wrapped chocolates from our personalised Toblerone Truffles.
  2. Cut some sparkly string or very thin ribbon, about the length of your hand.
  3. Tie it around the truffle so it sits in the middle of the string/ribbon.
  4. Tie the string/ribbon to the gift you want to add the Truffle diamond to – voilà!
