HOW TO MAKE A CAMERA THE PERFECT GIFT

WHATEVER YOU GIFT, ADD A DIAMOND

As Christmas rolls in, Toblerone is hitting the streets to solve your gift-giving puzzles. Whether you’re a deal seeker or a planning pro, here’s our perfect tip: Add a Toblerone Diamond, (just in case).

Meet Carla, weighing the pros and cons of Canon versus Nikon cameras. And she knows just how to bring a smile to Jack’s face with this chocolatey joy.

CAMERA GIFT IDEAS

Jack’s a landscape photography fanatic. Whenever we're in the Lakes, he's busy capturing every river and fell, so he’ll defo need a camera with top-notch image quality.

But which DSLR should I go for?

I’ve heard great things about the Nikon D3500—it’s perfect for beginners. It’s lightweight, super portable, and has an amazing battery life. Plus, that APS-C sensor gives his lens a wider reach.

But wait, the Canon EOS 90D brings the fun with its mirrorless-quality autofocus and a jaw-dropping ISO range of 100 to 25,600—perfect for capturing every epic moment.

PRESENTS FOR CAMERA LOVERS

Right, time to go all out. If I Google ‘presents for camera lovers’, the Joby GorillaPod tripod pops up. Looks like we’ll get some fab cliff shots with this. It’s sturdy and you can mount it anywhere, like fences and railings.

Let’s grab one of those sandbag weights as well. Anything to keep his equipment steady. We don’t want it blowing away now, do we?

Oh, should I add something like the LensPen Camera Cleaning Kit? Apparently, it works a treat on grit and smudges. Lenses need to be dirt-free at the end of the day.

GIFTS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

Jack’s planning on turning his flat into a lil’ studio at some point. And he’s a real gadget-geek. These LED panels look gorge, especially the ‘Hot-Shoes’ as they’re small and provide a constant light. (That reminds me – I could do with some hot shoes …?)

Next, a microphone. Jack will need one for his YouTube channel. He’s been banging on about the Rode VideoMic Pro and Sennheiser MKE 400 for ages. The Sennheiser has an edge due to its metallic frame. Less likely to snap like the plastic Rode one.

CAMERA ACCESSORIES GIFTS

All that gear is gonna need a bag. Otherwise, he’ll lose it. There are tons of styles and sizes. Between the Manfrotto Manhattan Runner 50 wheelie and Billingham’s over-the-shoulder messenger, I think we have a winner.

What’s missing? Ah – there are no photos without a memory card. A MicroSD (to be exact). What else? Think. Carla. Think.

Tell you what. I’ll wrap this up with one last accessory for any gift…
